E-book fines are coming - When and to whom will they be imposed

Quarter Extension

The time counts down for fines for those who do not send the invoices they issue through the myData electronic platform.

Very soon the relevant provisions will be ready and the electronic submission of invoices will become mandatory.

However, the Ministry of Finance is considering the possibility of a three-month extension until these provisions are activated. In fact, those who have not submitted the relevant invoices of the previous year on the electronic platform will be invited to do so without penalty until the date to be set by the Ministry of Finance.

According to sources quoted by the newspaper "Kathimerini", once it is established that everything is running smoothly and any problems that exist in sectors of the economy have been resolved, fines will be instituted for those who do not send the documents to the myData electronic platform.

Mandatory Transfer

To date, the legislation does not provide for fines for those who have forgotten or avoid using e-books, making it essentially an optional measure.

From next April, all businesses will be obliged, not only to issue their documents electronically, but also to send them to the myData application.

Otherwise, the fines will be steep.

The income documents issued by businesses by the date of the start of mandatory transmission must be transmitted to the myData platform by March 31, 2022.
